The database is the correspondence to other application's files. Topics and notes are saved in the database.
Opening another database
When the application is launched the first time, a default database with the name "NotePad DB" is created in the system folder. It's possible to open a different database or create a new one by selecting "Choose database..." in the File-menu. Databases can also be opened from the Finder.
NotePad Deluxe remembers the latest opened database and will automaticly open it the next time the application is launched. If the <control> is pressed during the startup, the user is instead prompted to manually select a database (or create a new one).
To see the name and location of the database currently used, select "Database Info..." in the File-menu.
Backups
It's of most importance to make frequently backups. It's not especially funny to loose important information.
A backup is easily made by copying the database file in the Finder. To see where the database is located, select "Database Info..." in the File-menu.
Converting old databases
A database created with an earlier version of NotePad Deluxe is converted to a new format before it's opened. This means that it's not be possible to open the database again with the old version. You should make a backup copy before opening an old file.
